Mohammad Amjad Hossain

Mohammad Amjad Hossain is a life-long journalist, career diplomat and public advocate and writes on current global events along with focused historic time pieces.  He writes about global politics, public policy and cultural shifts.  He primary focus is on South Asia, the Middle East and other parts of the world.

Mohammad Amjad Hossain graduated from Dhaka University in 1963 and joined the News Organization of Radio Pakistan in December of 1963.  He served as Assistant News Editor in Radio Pakistan in the then Chittagong and Rajshahi in East Pakistan, now Bangladesh.

In 1968 June he joined the External Publicity Wing of the Ministry of Information and National Affairs of Pakistan in Islamabad as an Information officer. He was selected by the Public Service Commission.

In 1972, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh and served in various capacities, both at home and abroad. His final assignment abroad was to Bonn, Germany where he worked as Deputy Chief of Mission of the Bangladesh Embassy. He retired as Director from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in December 2000.

His contribution to daily newspapers in Pakistan and Bangladesh began in the early 1960s and he writes in both English and Bengali.  He has contributed to Bengali newspapers in Bangladesh, particularly in Jugantar, Prothom Alo, Manab Zamin and Jana Kanto on current issues and policy matters.  In addition, he wrote a series on the Foreign Policy of Bangladesh that were published in the Jana Kanto.

Mohammad Amjad Hossain has been devoted to and has been privileged to serve as Joint-Director of Kachi-Kanchar Mela – the largest children’s organization serving throughout Bangladesh.  He continues to serve this organization as an Advisor since the mid-1970s.

He was a member of the Toastmasters International Club of Nova from 2004 to 2010 and served in this prestigious club as Vice-President, Public Relations, Vice-President, Education and President.  Mohammad Amjad Hossain is a Competent Communicator (Silver) and a Competent Leader of the Toastmaster Internation Club.

Mohammad Amjad Hossain became a naturalized citizen of the United States in January 2008 and permanently resides in Virginia.  He can be reach via email.
